  • Academic animation courses teach how to use the animation process to distill research down to the pure essentials.

Animation is not only great as a vessel for sharing research. In the process of creating an animation, it can help focus on the core messages you want to communicate. Our animation courses are aimed at academics from all disciplines to come and have hands-on animation experience and learn how to think about, and communicate research differently.

    Each masterclass involves :

    • Practical Training
    • Teamwork
    • Distilling complex ideas
    • Networking
    • Understand the process of animation
    • Explore new ways of sharing your research
    • Different animation techniques
    • Combining storytelling with research

    Masterclasses options

    • Morphing Masterclass - (half day) work individually and in teams.
    • Paper Cut Out Workshop - (full day) work in teams to make paper cut out animations
    • Animation Masterclass - (2 days) learn multiple animation techniques and make a short animated film

Each course can accept up to 25 participants.

Working with Sophie is an absolute delight. She engages our academics really well and helps them to think more creatively and simply about their environmental research, which can often be niche and a little depressing! Sophie has run several animation training sessions for our academics and they've all come away with a renewed joy for their work and a new way of seeing how the outside world can be engaged with it through animation.
